Gigi Taylor specializes and teaches Advertising Media Planning at Texas State University. Taylor has a Ph.D. in Advertising with a concentration in consumer behavior from The University of Texas at Austin.
Prior to joining the faculty, Gigi worked as an Account Planner at Publicis & Hal Riney Advertising in San Francisco. She also worked as an independent research consultant and later as a partner with Practica, an anthropology research consultancy. Gigi has applied her qualitative research skills to brand positioning, website creation, advertising strategy, product design and innovation for national and international clients.
Dr. Taylor’s academic research explores how individuals engage with media and branded consumption to negotiate identity. Her published academic research has appeared in both advertising and anthropological journals and conferences. She is a member of the American Academy of Advertising, Society For Applied Anthropology and the Association for Consumer Research.
